ABSTRACTS

These multi-levelled silks appliqué abstracts were developed in Thailand (2005-2011) as Leslie was inspired by the rich array and palette of silks available and the impulse to work intuitively with these materials. Though this method is in stark contrast to the prescribed discipline of thangka art, these spontaneous non-conceptual works are inspired by its stylised lines and forms. These floating fluid transparent images are constructed on one, two- even sometimes three -levels exploring interdependence and stillness in motion.
