Buddhism is a medicine, the antidote to suffering. Tibetan art (thangka painting ) is the visual vehicle of that medicine. Thongdrol in Tibetan means "liberation by sight". May thongdrol bring liberation to all beings.
All of our senses have the possibility of bringing liberation, this site is devoted to Tibetan traditional art and other contemporary art forms developed from Tibet's art.
Here you will find many galleries of contemporary and traditional paintings, silk appliques, environmental art,portraits, Tibet photos, and videos connected with these topics. The artworks of Terris and Leslie Nguyen Temple, the artists to Tsurphu Monastery, and His Holiness the Karmapa since 1992.

Projects
Several Tibetan projects are included here, the Tsurphu Tsechur Drabje project. This is combined with a project to train young women in advanced traditional Tibetan applique techniques. We will use the master tailors of the White Conch Factory team as instructors. A proposal ( Tsechur Drabje Project ) can be found in the Tsurphu menu section.

Liberation Arts is a non profit organization dedicated to our mission statement:
"Our mission is to preserve and create traditional Himalayan art, to educate people about Himalayan arts and culture and to preserve the environment."
The name Liberation Arts is taken from the Tibetan word Thongdrol, or Liberation by Sight: http://liberation -arts.org

A documentry film project called Thongdrol ( Liberation by sight ) pdf file is located under the Film menu section. The film is about the making of Tsurphu's giant applique thangkas and the Karma Gadri School of thangka painting.

Prints
Hand embellished prints of Leslie's original applique thangkas commissioned over the last decade by Buddhist centers, practitioners and private collectors worldwide are available.
These images are printed on canvas using high quality inks and framed in traditional style brocade borders (with metal ends) from Tibet. Individual hand painting added to each image gives them a personal touch. Unframed canvas reproductions are also available. Single or wholesale order welcome. Payment can be made through Paypal.
